Arsenal 2 Liverpool 2 | In-depth Match Stats

Arsenal came back from 2-0 down at the Emirates to secure a 2-2 draw against Liverpool.  Goals from Luis Suarez and Jordan Henderson put the reds in control and got their reward for dominating most of the first hour. A quick fire double from Arsenal with 2 goals in under 3 minutes brought the game back on terms, first Giroud headed in from a free-kick and just over two minutes later Theo Walcott struck a powerful shot past Reina to make it 2-2.  Both sides had chances to score the 5th goal of the match but the score ended 2-2.

Liverpool supporters will be reflecting on a squandered chance to grab that vital win against a Top 10 side whilst Arsenal’s second half onslaught could have easily seen Liverpool lose from being two goals up! Arsenal supporters will be aggrieved at the way their defensive frailty for both goals.

EPL Index Opinion

Arsenal dominated the statistics above but Liverpool could have snatched it at the end through Luis Suarez through a very weak defensive performance from Arsenal. The goals that Liverpool conceded weren’t without issues – especially the poor marking for Giroud’s goal.

As shown above Arsenal missed all three of their clear-cut chances whilst Liverpool converted two of their four. The poor conversion of their clear-cut chances, especially the one that was directly in-front of goal for Giroud, maybe cost Arsenal two points here.

Overall it’s a fair result going on Liverpool’s play in the first hour and Arsenal’s fight back in the final 30 minutes but both will be disappointed with a draw.[/box_light]
