Newcastle United 3 Chelsea 2 | In-Depth Match Stats

Newcastle United continued their revival with back-to-back wins, this time despatching Rafa Beintez’s troubled Chelsea. On the half hour mark Ramires could easily have been sent off but was only given a yellow card by Howard Webb. Newcastle took the lead in the first half through Jonas Gutierrez’s goal before half time whilst Chelsea lost Demba Ba to a boot to the face from former team-mate and captain Coloccini!

Chelsea began the second half brilliantly and battled back to deservedly level and then take the lead through their joint top scorers this season: Lampard and Mata – both into double figures with 10 premier league goals each. In the past a Rafael Benitez side would have shut out the game but his Chelsea side have a knack of conceding late goals.

This time it was Newcastle’s turn to fight back and the very impressive Sissoko equalised on 68 minutes! He then got his second of the game and the winner in the 90th minute. Newcastle didn’t stop running and their fighting spirit was embodied by Sissoko who ran his socks off in this game and was substituted in stoppage time to a standing ovation.

Man of the Match: Sissoko
