Bolton | First match high

I was going to write this blog and say all the usual thing about how we shouldn’t get carried away and all that buisness but after a brilliant 4-0, win for Bolton, i’m just going to talk about the positives and how it made my weekend. After months of doing nothing this summer except bathe in the wonderful weather we have had (yea i’ve done nothing this summer) the start of the season began this saturday for us. A potentially tricky away trip to QPR with the new boys wanting to get off to a flying start on their return to the big time. From the start the home side were up for it, for the first 5 minutes we looked like we were chasing shadows a little bit then they had a goal rightly disallowed. The first half slowed down gradually a little with QPR getting the better of the chances after some slack defending and then a black from Stiensson until injury time and step up Gary Cahill curled a beauty into the top corner.

After half time we were the only team in it and extended out lead after two lucky goals one from an O.G and the other from a deflection to be finished in style by and I didn’t think I would be writing this after the first game Fabrice Muamba! I was one of many who were unimpressed with Muamba last season he didn’t seem fully fit or have any confidence but this match was one of his best for a long time and not just because he scored. With a possession pass rate of 75% I can’t complain. It may be down to the competition of midfielders or maybe Reo-Coker and his experience who also had a very good game.

QPR BWFC
Possession % 44.7 55.3
Total shots 9 11
Shots on target 2 5
shots off target 7 6
Pass completion % 62 67
tackles won 12 16
possession duels won 50 59
Aerial duels won 13 18
Pass interceptions 13 13
Clear cut chances 1 2
Accurate through balls 0 3
Total long balls played 73 72
Successful dribbles 5 9
Corners 3 2

A fantastic start to the season with pundits on various shows saying that BWFC taught QPR a lesson and their return to the big time. This blog is in no way intended to wind QPR fans up i wish them all the best in staying up this season. The second half showing from the wanderers was a relief in part as in the first half we didn’t look like creating much and the fact we only had SKD and Klasnic up front started to have me worried but I believe in Coyle and what he is doing with the team. Looking forward to the next match up at the Reebok next time against MCFC with at least one new player making his debut in the form of Tuncay

Thanks for having a read 🙂
