EPL Most Creative Players 13/14 | Ozil, Hazard, Walker and Michu Stats

With the 2013/14 Premier League season now five games old we’ll be sharing some stats with you from the EPLIndex Stats Centre to illustrate which players are the most creative so far in the Premier League. In this article we’ll be looking at Chances Created, Clear-cut chances created and Goal Assists.

Most Creative So Far

Most Creative: Chances Created

13-14 Most Creative after 5 games

Eden Hazard has taken over creative duties at Chelsea after Juan Mata has struggled to find a place in the starting eleven. Hazard leads the way as the most creative player in the league with fourteen chances created so far. He’s had good support though as Andre Schurrle is in joint-3rd place with twelve chances created illustrating that Chelsea do not lack creativity this season.

Tottenham’s Kyle Walker is the 2nd most creative player in the Premier League at this moment in time with thirteen chances created whilst Gerrard, Sissoko, Michu, Schurrle and Adam Johnson are all on twelve. Last years leading creative force comes in at number ten but it’s just the start of the season and I’d expect Leighton Baines, David Silva, Eden Hazard and Mesut Ozil to be the main creative forces in the league this season.

Mesut Ozil leads the way after only two starts for Arsenal with three assists already. The silky German has produced one goal from open play and two goals via set-plays and he will certainly be a favourite to lead this category for the majority of the season if the impressive statistics from his time at Real Madrid are anything to go by. Eight players then share second spot with two goal assists each.

Four players share top spot for most clear-cut chances created: Weimann, Chadli, Jelavic and Giroud all have created three clear-cut chances for their team mates. There are a whole host of players on two chances created and these will take more shape once we’re a quarter or third way through the season.

For those of  you new to the clear-cut chances statistic here is what Opta define it as:

A situation where a player should reasonably be expected to score usually in a one-on-one scenario or from very close range.

Sylvain Marveaux tops the most frequent set play creators list and surprisingly Leighton Baines, last year’s most creative player from set-plays, is not in the top ten for this category. However it is very early in the season and these top ten charts will change drastically by Christmas.
