Saturday's Top Premier League Players: Suarez, Hazard, Shaw, Snodgrass

There were some big performances in the Premier League on Saturday with Liverpool winning 4-0, Southampton “pressing” on to a 4-1 win, Norwich turned around a deficit winning 3-1 and West Brom were denied a win by a dubious penalty decision at Stamford Bridge to keep Jose Mourinho’s unbeaten record intact.

In this article we’ve used our Stats Centre (powered by Opta Sports data) to show which players were the Top players on Round 11: Saturday 9th November.

Creativity

Saturday Round 11 Creativity Stats

As you can see Liverpool dominate this area as they attempted 32 shots against Fulham at Anfield in their 4-0 victory. Jordan Henderson and Luis Suarez created six each for the Reds topping the creativity charts.

Robert Snodgrass scored a lovely free kick but also created five chances for his side as Norwich came back from behind to beat West Ham. The Hammers’ formidable defensive record was blown away with three second half goals to relieve some of the pressure on Chris Hughton.

Steven Gerrard and Ashley Westwood make up the top five. Steven Gerrard was the only player to create two goals (assists) yesterday and moved to joint top in the assists table with a whole host of players on 4 goal assists this season.

Passing

Saturday Round 11 Passing Stats

Everton, Liverpool and Chelsea dominate the passing stats from Saturday as Barry & Jagielka take the top two spots with over 90 passes each. Lucas Leiva was the most accurate with 96.67% of his 90 passes finding a team mate. Ramires and Ivanovic also made appearances for Chelsea in the top ten with 81 and 79 passes respectively.

Overall Liverpool once again dominated the top ten spots with five players attempting 75 passes or more against Fulham.

Final Third Passes

It’s the same three clubs again for the Top 5 Final Third passers this time with three Liverpool players in the Top 5 alongside Baines (38) and Hazard (31). Eden Hazard completed an astonishing 90% of his 31 passes in the final third. It’s astonishing because the final third is the most difficult to area to complete a successful pass – West Bromwich Albion would have had between 4-7 players in that area whenever Chelsea attacked making it difficult to achieve such a high pass accuracy.

Philippe Coutinho attempted the most final third passes with 53 which was 12 more than his team mate Jordan Henderson who attempted the second most on the day.
