Manchester United seem set to make the biggest move of the January transfer window with a bid of close to £40million pounds for Chelsea’s Juan Mata.
Rumours are rife that Manchester United are preparing a club record bid for Juan Mata.
Although no official bid has been made just yet, reports suggest that talks are on-going and that a bid will be submitted shortly.
Chelsea asking for £40 million pounds for the Spanish star who is frustrated by a lack of first team appearances this season. However, United only value the player at £35 million pounds.
Mata will push for the move as aims to be a part of the Spain World Cup Squad as they defend their title this Summer.
It is a massive turn around for a player who was voted Chelsea’s player of the year for the last two seasons and who has won the Europa League, Champions League and FA Cup whilst at Chelsea.
David Moyes is keen to add more attacking options to his side and he will hope that he can get Mata to reproduce his form of last season where he was creating a chance every 22 minutes and he created 14 clear cut chances.
Add to that his 12 goals in the Barclays Premier League and you have a player who could transform the fortunes of the team from Old Trafford.
Manchester United need something to change. They need a few fresh faces and to show the fans that the club are still committed to challenging for the Top 4.
Whether or not Juan Mata is the answer to all their problems, it’s too early to say. One thing that’s for sure, it will send a message to their rivals that they are still big players in this seasons Barclays Premier League race.
