Mourinho to spend Mata money on Costa

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has moved quickly to spend the £37million pounds that the club received for Juan Mata by verbally agreeing to sign Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa.

Chelsea will seal a £32million pound move for the Spanish forward once the Summer transfer window opens and will leave rivals Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United extremely disappointed.

Costa has been in electric form this season with 19 goals in 20 games for the La Liga side.

Costa’s agent has been quoted as saying “Atletico knows it is impossible to hold onto him.”

Costa’s manager Diego Simone has also recently spoke out and said that no player at the club is indispensable.

This deal will come as a blow to Liverpool especially, who thought they had agreed a deal with Costa during last Summer’s transfer window, only for the Spaniard to sign a new deal with Atletico.

One part of the deal that is not clear is whether or not goalkeeper Thibault Courtois will be part of the deal or if it will be straight cash.

Belgian stopper Courtois has been on loan at Ateltico for three seasons now and Diego Simeone is a huge fan of his.

I’m sure the finer details will be revealed as time progresses, but if the deal does go ahead then Chelsea will have strengthened once again in the attacking areas of their squad.
