John Terry: Liverpool Victory Benefits Chelsea

Following his sides 1-0 victory over ten man Swansea City, Chelsea captain John Terry has revealed that Jose Mourinho’s outfit will benefit from Liverpool’s victory over fellow title-contenders Manchester City.

During his interview with Sky Sports, Terry said:

“We obviously knew about the Liverpool result and it’s probably the one we wanted.
“We’ve won our game and the pressure is still on the teams above and below us. We knew we would make it very easy for them if didn’t win our games, regardless of the result at Anfield.”

Chelsea now sit in second place, two points off of league leaders Liverpool, and five points ahead of third place Manchester City. However, the blue half of Manchester have two games in hand and can over-take Chelsea by a point by winning both of those games. The London club also have to take on Brendan Rodgers’ rampant Reds at Anfield, which is now the fortress the Northern Irishman promised it would be.

While Liverpool managed to defeat City in a breathtaking 3-2 encounter at Anfield, Terry captained Chelsea to a hard-fought victory following Demba Ba’s victorious strike. Mourinho’s Chelsea know that to win the title they must defeat Liverpool on their own turf, but following the courageous display against Man City, it may be easier said than done.
