Wenger Hoping for Toffees Slip-Up

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hoping for an Everton slip-up in the cpncluding weeks of the Premier League. The North London outfit jumped ahead of Everton in the table last night as they regained their 4th place spot, but the Toffees have a game in hand.

Speaking after the game, Wenger said

“Saturday and tonight improves the confidence of the team, but we know we have one advantage – the picture is very clear in front of us.

“If we need an Everton mistake we will see when we need it, but at the moment we can only do it if we win our games, so let’s focus on that.”

The veteran manager has been in this situation many a time, and are looking to qualify for the Champions League for the 18th consecutive year. However, Martinez’s impressive performance at Everton this season has already resulted in their greatest points tally in Premier League history, with 5 games left to play.

Everton also have a superior goal difference to Wenger’s side (+22 to Arsenal’s +18), and a draw against Crystal Palace will put the Toffees back into the Champions League spot.

Having been top of the table for a number of weeks, Arsenal fans will demand Champions League qualification, coupled with FA Cup success. If not, it is hard to see what the future will lay ahead for London’s most successful club, and whether Wenger will be a part of it.
