Manchester City took a step closer to claiming their second Premier League title in 3 years last night by seeing off Aston Villa 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium. Their Chilean manager, Manuel Pellegrini, disclosed his thoughts by claiming that they now expect to win the Premier League title on Sunday, knowing only a win will guarantee it.
“Of course I expect to win the title because now we are top of the table. It is the last game and win the next game and we can win the title.
“I hope we are not going to lose next Sunday but we must win the way we did today. But now we can talk about the title because if we win the next game we are going to win it.”
The coach believes that it has been City’s style of play that will be rewarded by claiming the top prize in England, but their lush squad has also been a beneficiary.
“Maybe you can win titles other ways. For me, the aesthetic part is very important. I think we have a style of play, I think we are an attractive team and I think we score many goals and we are always thinking to score more goals.”
Man City have surpassed the 100 goal mark in the league this season following their win last night, and their goal difference is vastly superior to second place Liverpool who host Newcastle on Sunday. City know that a draw will more than likely hand them the Premier League, but will seek to win their match against following their infamous final day heroics two years ago.
