Koscielny Signs Long-Term Deal

Laurent Koscielny has signed a new long-term deal with Arsenal, becoming one of eight players to extend their deals at the Emirates this season.

Koscielny has been at the club since 2010 having signed from Lorient and was relatively unknown at the time. Since then, he has gone on to make 163 appearances for the Gunners, dislodging Thomas Vermaelen from the side to forge a strong partnership with German international Per Mertesacker.

“I am very proud to have reached agreement with the club on a new contract,” the Frenchman told the Arsenal website.

“I have enjoyed four great years at Arsenal already, and I look forward to continuing to help the team in the years to come.”

Koscielny had been linked to club’s such as Bayern Munich and Barcelona, but Arsene Wenger will be happy to have cemented one of his first choice centre-backs to a new deal, ensuring that he retains one of his star players.
