Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has confirmed the club are working on transfers for next season, despite their recent run-in with UEFA with regards to Financial Fair Play. Soriano also confirmed that former Everton centre-back Joleon Lescott is available for transfer.
City, who wrapped up their second Premier League title last Sunday, are already working towards reshaping their squad to suit the needs of Chilean boss Manuel Pellegrini.
“The planning has been done already,” said Soriano in the Manchester Evening News. “We don’t do this in the summer, we do this during the year.
“We know that some players will be leaving because their contracts are finishing. We have some new players coming.
“But it’s fair to say that the base of our team is going to be the same.
“These players are players who are winning. Remember, we have only been working with Manuel Pellegrini for one year so we are sure next year it will be better.
“To build a team needs time. You will see some changes in the team but not massive.”
Although City are likely to face some form of fine or ban after their appeal of UEFA’s rulings with regards to their monstrous spending. But should they add to their squad, they will only be stronger on a whole in the Premier League next season.
