Liverpool have today announced a deal in principle for German u-21 international and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, Emre Can. The 20 year old helped Bayer Leverkusen secure Champions League football for the German side last season, and will join to add competition to the Reds’ options.
The Frankfurt born Can made 29 appearances last season, scoring 3 goals. He is a defensive minded box-to-box midfielder, with impressive athleticism and control on the ball. His versatility is something Brendan Rodgers has identified as a key attribute in his transfer targets, as Can may be utilised as a full-back, defensive midfielder and central midfielder.
The deal will be confirmed on the 1st of July 2014.
