Manchester City have hit an impressive 41 goals in the Premier League this season and their free scoring should continue against lowly Sunderland.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men were surprisingly held to a 2-2 home draw last Sunday by struggling Burnley and so they will want to make up for that slip-up at the Etihad Stadium.

City’s midfield players regularly chip in with goals when the prolific Sergio Aguero is not adding to his impressive total and this is an ideal opportunity for them to continue that form.

The draw against Burnley was not as expensive as it might have been in their title chase, since leaders Chelsea were held by Southampton on the same day, but City will be keen to ensure there are no further lapses as they bid to close the three-point gap on the London club.

They have a great chance against Sunderland, whose inconsistency has kept them hovering around the relegation places. Their last three games have featured a win over Newcastle, a defeat at home to Hull City and a draw at Aston Villa.

Their defence have conceded 27 goals in the Premier League this season going into the Etihad Stadium fixture and so manager Gus Poyet will be eager to prevent that figure increasing.

The difficulty facing Poyet is how to set his team up, because if the goals are not coming from the likes of Aguero, then David Silva or Yaya Toure can quite easily help out with scoring duties.

How Poyet must long to have a player like James Milner in his squad, with the England midfielder reportedly set to leave City next summer on a free transfer as he is surplus to requirements.

Instead, Poyet has to rely on the likes of the combative Lee Cattermole to try to ensure City do not breach his defence.

Enhanced price therefore maximum stake of £25 per user.
