If BT Sport viewers are hoping for a goal spree at the Emirates on Sunday, think again. Any match involving Everton recently has generally proved a turn-off.

Five of their last six Premier League matches have produced two or fewer goals as Roberto Martinez’s team have failed to reproduce the firepower they have shown in the Europa League, where last week they romped to a 4-1 win in Bern.

In fact, two of those six games have been goalless draws – at home to Liverpool and West Brom – and in two more a solitary goal has decided the outcome, with Everton losing 1-0 at Chelsea and winning 1-0 at Crystal Palace.

As a result, the Toffees are in a decidedly sticky position, just six points above the relegation zone, and this week defender Phil Jagielka warned that they are only a few more bad results away from a battle to avoid the drop.

Sunday’s match therefore looks like a backs-to-the-wall job for Martinez’s men as they seek some reward from their trip to North London.

That would not be welcomed by the third-placed Gunners, who only just beat another struggling club – bottom side Leicester – 2-1 in their last Premier League match at the Emirates.

Also, they have had trouble putting away Everton in recent seasons, with two of their three meetings ending in draws – 0-0 in April 2013 and 1-1 in December of that year.

An Arsenal win – which would be their sixth success in seven league matches – by a 1-0 or 2-0 margin looks the most likely result as they bid to strengthen their Champions League credentials.

Enhanced price therefore maximum stake of £25 per user.
