Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing Swansea in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Monday night.
He has found the Swans particularly accommodating opponents in his last three appearances against them, scoring four goals.
The England international struck in both games between the clubs in 2013 and then grabbed a brace in Liverpool’s 4-3 home success in February 2014.
The 25-year-old missed the clubs’ first Premier League encounter this season in December – which Liverpool won 4-1 – because he was recovering from a thigh injury, but he is now back to full fitness and among the goals.
Sturridge made a scoring return to the Liverpool side as a substitute against West Ham in January and also found the net in the 2-1 FA Cup fifth-round success at Crystal Palace last month and the 2-0 home victory against Burnley on March 4.
While the former Chelsea and Manchester City striker was kept at bay by Championship club Blackburn last weekend in the FA Cup quarter-finals, it was more by luck than judgement, as he had five shots blocked.
That will make him even hungrier for goals as he bids to fire Liverpool to a fifth successive Premier League win and closer to a Champions League qualification place. At present they are just two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
The chances of Swansea’s defence keeping Sturridge quiet look slim, as they have recorded only two clean sheets in 2015 and both of those have been away from home.
