Kenny Dalglish faces an almighty challenge to revive Liverpool’s Monday night fortunes following four years of disappointment.
In their 12 past Premier League matches played on a Monday night since the start of the 2007/8 season, Liverpool have won on just five occasions with their last victory coming in their 5-2 win at this week’s opponents Fulham.
With four draws and three defeats, Liverpool’s Monday night form matches that of Aston Villa, rather than the top clubs with who the Reds share similar form on a weekend.
By using the Euro Club index (http://www.euroclubindex.com), a ranking of all the top flight clubs in Europe, it’s easy to work out the strength of Liverpool’s opponents on those Monday nights.
The results prove that the Liverpool are far more prolific on a weekend with them sharing similar form to Chelsea, who are ranked sixth overall in the Euro Club Index.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are down in 13th overall, while their form on a Monday has them way down in 50th position.
