Who Are The Favourites To Win The Premier League?

Because Chelsea won the last Premier League title last season, bookies like bet365 were looking to Jose Mourinho’s squad as the favourites to win it this year. It’s safe to say that Chelsea were the favourite to win the title with virtually every bookie, especially because of the calculated moves that they made to strengthen their squad. It’s a rare sight to see Jose Mourinho lose at home and Betfair had given Chelsea odds of 6/1 of going the entire league campaign without a loss at Stamford Bridge. However, a poor start to this season has seen their odds slashed dramatically.

Favourites Premier League

This summer transfer window showed that Liverpool weren’t afraid of throwing their financial weight around, splurging over £60m on Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino. While both of these players are excellent, this drastic move may not be enough, especially when you consider that they lost longtime leader, Steven Gerrard, as well as their best and youngest player Raheem Sterling. Overall, the entire squad is still getting a handle on things so the odds are that Liverpool won’t put up much of a challenge. Although Jurgen Klopp’s arrival could kickstart a resurgence for the Reds, it may be a little too soon for a first Premier League title in 25 years.

Arsenal, a longtime fan favourite, has been a source of frustration for many of their supporters due to their inconsistent performances in the Premier League. But, finally, oddsmakers believe that this wayward team has what it takes to be a legitimate contender this year. Their recent 3-0 thrashing of Manchester United saw them become second favourites at 5/2 to win the league.

Manchester City paid £49 million to take the disgruntled Raheem Sterling off of Liverpool’s hands. City will be hoping that his acquisition will be just the spark needed to boost a team that began to flounder at the end of last season. A few more shrewd signings in the form of Kevin De Bruyne and Nicolas Otamendi have seen City become 4/5 favourites to win the league this time around.

It really is an open Premier League this year and a tough one to call. For now the blue side of Manchester are favourites to win it!
