Chelsea need to avoid defeat at home to FC Porto this week in order to progress to the second round of this season’s UEFA Champions League as group winners.
Jose Mourinho’s side head into the match off the back of a shock 1-0 loss at home to newly-promoted Bournemouth on Saturday, leaving the defending Premier League champions only three points above the relegation zone after 15 games.
FC Porto were in action on Saturday night too, coming from behind to narrowly beat Pacos de Ferreira 2-1 at home courtesy of a penalty following a poor backpass from the opposition.
The Portuguese side aren’t generally great travelers and have had a busy schedule over the past couple of weeks, along with selling stars like Jackson Martinez over the past couple of seasons, they aren’t as strong as they once were. FC Porto won the home match between these two but will head to Stamford Bridge as heavy underdogs. If you’d like to back Chelsea but are a little hesitant, why not click here for BonusCodeBets.
Mourinho’s side should be particularly careful of forward Yacine Brahimi who has a good long range shot on him and has scored two curlers into the top corner in the past couple of games alone. Andre Andre is a goalscorer from midfield whilst Vincent Aboubakar is Porto’s top scorer in this season’s competition, although the young striker doesn’t always look a great threat.
Iker Casillas keeps goals for FC Porto whose only clean sheet has come in the home game versus Maccabi Tel Aviv in this group. The Spanish footballing legend was beaten by a Willian free kick when these two met at the end of September.
