Why Paul Pogba will make Manchester United leading candidates for the title

Jose Mourinho means business. The Portuguese has acted quickly since his appointment as manager of Manchester United and the Red Devils are now arguably in prime position to compete for the Premier League title. Earlier this summer, United signed centre-back Eric Bailly from Villarreal before acquiring free agent Zlatan Ibrahimović and Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund.

But perhaps the biggest coup of them all is Paul Pogba… IF the 13-time Premier League champions manage to seal the deal. According to reports, Manchester United have agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old and Juventus are set to accept a world record fee of just over £100 million for the midfielder. And although it’s a crazy sum of money, Pogba could be the man to transform United from underachievers into champions of England.

If nothing else, Mourinho will bring the fear factor back to Old Trafford. Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, the Red Devils have failed to inspire confidence and they broke a number of unwanted records under Louis van Gaal last season. With Mourinho at the helm and the likes of Pogba and Zlatan in the starting line-up, fans will be rushing to www.ticketgum.com in a desperate bid to purchase tickets and see the potential champions in action.

Pogba is an influential, dominant figure in central midfield and the France international has the potential to blossom into a world class talent at the Theatre of Dreams. Pogba actually left United back in 2012 after failing to agree on contract terms but it looks like a return to Old Trafford and the Premier League could well be on the cards. On his day, you’d have to say that the Frenchman is the best central midfielder on the planet and he could be a key figure throughout Mourinho’s tenure.

In terms of natural ability, Pogba is one of the most gifted footballers on the planet. In fact, he is a special player – even at the age of 23. But he cannot afford to get ahead of himself and Mourinho simply won’t allow Pogba or anybody else to ghost through matches. The Portuguese expects all of his players to give 100% in every single game; no matter who they’re playing and no matter what the score is. Mourinho works his players incredibly hard but that is why his teams are usually so successful…

With Paul Pogba back at Old Trafford, United fans can begin to dream about yet another Premier League title success. The Red Devils have failed to maintain a genuine bid for the crown since Ferguson left the club but if anyone can take United back to the top, it’s Jose Mourinho. Only time will tell but early signs suggest that the 13-time Premier League champions will be in amongst it… and Pogba could be the difference-maker that swings the title race in United’s favour.
