The Awards Keep Coming for Mohamed Salah

With just one Premier League match remaining this season, the individual player awards are being dished out and its proved a very busy time for Mohamed Salah.

When Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in the summer, even he could not have anticipated the personal awards he would be collecting come the end of the campaign. With a Champions League final still to come, there is every chance the Egyptian international could also pick up one of the biggest team trophies in world football.

However, Salah went from the famous red kit of Liverpool to a black tuxedo on Thursday night as he first attended the Liverpool awards dinner.

Three Awards in One Night

The 25-year-old has surprised everyone this year with his goal scoring and this was recognised again on Thursday night when he was named players’ player of the season and player of the season at Liverpool’s awards dinner.

Salah’s stats speak for themselves and the forward has scored 43 goals in his first season at Anfield, something which no other player has achieved in the history of the football club.

However, Salah could not spend long celebrating with this teammates as having accepted the two awards he was taken by private jet down to London. Salah arrived at the Football Writers’ Association dinner where he accepted the Football Writers’ Association player of the year award.

That makes three individual awards in one night and four for the season and Salah’s business in not even complete as he makes his way to Kiev for the Champions League final following the last Premier League game of the season this weekend.

Will Salah Stay?

Having enjoyed such a tremendous season with Liverpool, the inevitable Salah transfer rumours have started to circulate and we have featured the most recent on Sports of the Day which sees Salah heavily linked with a move to Liverpool’s opponents in the Champions League final, Real Madrid.

However, having been asked about his future at Anfield on Thursday night, Salah said, “I have got ambitions for the future with Liverpool. As you can see we had a great season and now we are in the Champions League final and everyone is excited. It is just the start. This is my first year here and it is the same for some other players. I didn’t watch all the games last season of the team but this year we have had an unbelievable year.”

Thoughts Turn to Brighton

Salah also spoke about the match against Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend, a match in which Liverpool need to take a point to guarantee Champions League football next season. “We are very comfortable we will be playing in the Champions League next season,” he said. “On the way to the final, we beat top teams like Manchester City and Roma. It is just the beginning. We want to qualify for the Champions League next season and then we want to win the Champions League final. We will play to win against Real Madrid.”

Salah has picked up many individual awards but will need to change out of his suit and back into his football kit on Sunday, ahead of two big games which will define Liverpool’s season.
