Everton rejected opportunity to sign former Man Utd winger

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Premier League club Everton F.C rejected the opportunity to sign former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay from Lyon this summer.

The tabloid reported on their website that Depay was touted around several clubs in England and across Europe, with the Toffees among them – but they turned him down.

Instead, Everton were locked in talks with Crystal Palace over Wilfried Zaha’s signature whom they’ve been linked with all summer before turning to Alex Iwobi in a deal that was sealed with Arsenal in the 11th hour.

Coincidentally, the Toffees opening match of the season is at the Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace who turned down their approach for Zaha.

Speaking of which our premier league predictions website Free Super Tips are eyeing for another full-time draw here with both team scoring and odds currently 11/5.

Depay was a Manchester United player until January 2017, when he left for Lyon in a fee as reported by the BBC to be worth £16 million.

The Dutchman’s time in England with the Red Devils never went has planned as planned as he failed to live up to expectations but has since got his career back on track in Ligue 1.

Memphis has also seen stock risen up so well that he is now an integral part of Netherlands national team once more.

It remains to be seen if Iwobi works out to be a better signing ahead of Memphis who’s isn’t as high profile as the latter – but hard-working, versatile and his attitude is far better than Depay’s.
