Which Team Will Finish In Fourth In The Premier League?

The action is heating up in the Premier League, with the battle to finish in the top four likely to be one of the most interesting aspects over the final weeks of the season. Liverpool and Manchester City are certainties for a top-four finish, while Leicester City also looks to be solid in the top four. The final place will be decided over the final eight rounds, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers the leading sides.

Many of the best betting sites are conflicted regarding which side will finish fourth, with the current side in that position the favourites with the majority. It is worth mentioning that fifth may also be enough for Champions League football as Manchester City’s ban from UEFA competition could still be a possibility. However, fourth is the best route to ensure Champions League football, but which side will get that spot?

Chelsea

The Blues hold the advantage in the battle for a top-four finish, but they will likely need to win all remaining games to ensure that they finish in that spot. Chelsea have some tough fixtures over the final month of the season as they host Manchester City and need to travel to Liverpool Should the battle go down to the final game of the season, then their final fixture will be enticing as they come up against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Blues do have a favourable run over fixtures after City, as they face four teams in the bottom half of the table. Frank Lampard will believe that his side should get fourth.

Manchester United

Manchester United may be many people’s pick to finish in the top four as they have the best possible run-in of all the teams involved. The only team in the top half of the table that they face is Leicester City, with that fixture at the King Power Stadium coming on the final day of the season. There is no reason why United can’t pick up 18 points from their next six fixtures as they face four of the teams that are in the bottom six of the Premier League. They will also come up against Crystal Palace and Southampton who have very little to play for over the final weeks of the season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be relying on Chelsea dropping points, but if they do, then United will be in the perfect position.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been going about their business quietly all season, but they find themselves in with an excellent chance of finishing in the top four. Wolves have a favourable run of fixtures to end the season, as they come up against Aston Villa, Burnley and Crystal Palace. They also face Sheffield United and Everton, which could be potentially difficult fixtures should their opponents play anywhere near their best. Wolves close the season against Chelsea, which will be an eye-catching fixture should the battle for a top-four place go down to the final game. Wolves remain in with a chance, and there is no reason why they can’t finish in the Champions League places.
