Premier League Matchday 6: Preview & Predictions

The Premier League season continues apace this weekend, with some mouth-watering matches taking place from Friday through to Monday.

The early part of the new season has been full of surprise results, and would have reminded punters of a night at the casino playing roulette or playing slots online, given how often surprise results have come through.

Whether it’s the champions losing meekly to relegation contenders, or teams with top four ambitions failing to win any games at home, football bettors and casual fans alike have been left flustered at the rapid changes in fortunes.

Nevertheless, the upcoming round of fixtures provides punters across the country with another opportunity to find the winning bets. And if that fails, there’s always an online casino to try for better luck.

Read on as we pick out our best bets.

Aston Villa vs Leeds United

Villa have defied expectations this term to rattle off four successive victories and are now the only team with a 100 percent record in the top flight.

They were magnificent in their last home game, smashing seven goals past reigning champions Liverpool in a power-packed performance.

However, Leeds have made a solid start to the new campaign and will fancy their chances of frustrating the home side in this one.

West Ham United vs Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s side are yet to fully hit their stride, but they should possess too much quality for West Ham at the London Stadium.

City have picked up seven points from their opening four matches and will be eager to keep themselves in touch with the early pace-setters.

The Hammers did well to snatch a point in their last outing at Tottenham Hotspur, but this should be a banker away win.

Fulham vs Crystal Palace

Fulham have found things difficult on their return to the Premier League, picking up just one point from their first five matches.

Aleksandar Mitrovic’s missed penalty against Sheffield United last weekend proved costly, with the Blades scoring a late spot-kick of their own to snatch a point.

Palace were unambitious as the laboured to a draw against Brighton & Hove Albion last Sunday and this game has another draw written all over it.

Manchester United vs Chelsea

United have lost their first two league games at Old Trafford and will be keen to get off the mark on home soil against Chelsea.

The Red Devils head into the game on the back of a 2-1 win at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and look a good bet to follow up on Saturday.

Wonderkid Mason Greenwood could be worth a look in the ‘score anytime’ market, particularly if manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decides to shuffle his pack.

Liverpool vs Sheffield United

Jurgen Klopp’s side bounced back from their mauling a Villa Park to secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Everton in their last outing.

While losing Virgil van Dijk to injury is a significant blow to their hopes of retaining the title, they should be capable of seeing off the Blades with ease.

Chris Wilder’s side have picked up just one point this term and they are strongly fancied to leave Anfield empty-handed.

Southampton vs Everton

Everton head into the weekend as one of only two unbeaten sides in the Premier League and should maintain that record at Southampton.

The Toffees deserved their point against Liverpool last weekend and look capable of mounting a serious challenge for the top four this season.

Everton ran out 2-1 winners on their last visit to St Mary’s back in November and it would be no surprise to see a similar outcome this weekend.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Newcastle United

Wolves have had a topsy-turvy start to the new campaign, but still find themselves in the top six after the first five matches.

Goals have proved hard to come by for Nuno’s side, with their tally of five amongst the lowest in the top flight.

However, Newcastle were ripped apart by Man Utd last weekend and this should be a comfortable home victory.

Arsenal vs Leicester City

There is little to choose between these two sides on paper, with both collecting nine points from their first five games this term.

Arsenal have won both games at the Emirates Stadium and will fancy their chances of making it three-out-of-three against Leicester.

The Foxes are aiming to bounce back from successive home defeats and look capable of taking at least a point from this game.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs West Bromwich Albion

Brighton were unfortunate not to win at Palace last weekend after dominating possession throughout the game.

They had 20 shots at Selhurst Park, but needed an injury-time equaliser from Alexis Mac Allister to snatch a point.

The Baggies have drawn two of their opening five matches and look a decent bet to pick up another point here.

Burnley vs Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs blew a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with West Ham last weekend, but should have little trouble recording a victory at Burnley.

Jose Mourinho’s side have looked impressive going forward this term and should possess too much firepower for the home team.

The Clarets have been extremely poor so far and look booked for a season-long struggle against relegation.

Weekend Best Bet: Back Manchester City, Liverpool and Wolves to win with both teams to score in the Arsenal versus Leicester game.
