Leeds United vs Arsenal Match Preview | Team News, Stats & Key Men

Leeds have had an up and down start to the season. They followed up their 3-0 win against Aston Villa with consecutive 4-1 losses. They’ve fallen down to 15th in the table and want to avoid falling into the relegation fight. They’ll need a good result against Arsenal to keep themselves away from the bottom of the table.

Arsenal have also had an inconsistent campaign. They’re coming off their own 3-0 loss to Villa, which sent them down to 10th in the table. Considering their top 4 aspirations, Arsenal need to turn their season around quickly. They’re only four points off fourth place, but that could get out of hand quickly. They are even more desperate for a result than Leeds.

Team News

Marcelo Bielsa have quite a few injury issues to juggle. Adam Forshaw, Gaetano Berardi, Jamie Shakleton, Pablo Hernandez and Diego Llorente are all unlikely to appear for Leeds, while Kalvin Phillips and Rodrigo look likely to play, according to PremierInjuries.com.

Arsenal had an unfortunately eventful international break and will be missing quite a few players. Pablo Mari, Gabriel Martinelli, Thomas Partey and Calum Chambers are out through injuries, according to PremierInjuries.com. On top of that, Sead Kolasinac and Mohammed Elneny are also out due to COVID-19.

Key Players

Leeds United: Patrick Bamford

Bamford has come into the Premier League like a house on fire. His seven goals has him only one off the top of the scoring charts. He’s also fourth in the league in shots per 90, according to WhoScored.com. Bamford has proved that he can make the step up to the Premier League and is one of the main reasons Leeds aren’t in the relegation zone.

Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang has had an awful start to the season. He only has one non-penalty goal this season and that was against Fulham in the first game of the season. He needs to up his level if Arsenal have a chance to finish anywhere near top four this season.

Prediction

These teams have been at pretty similar levels this season. Leeds have the home advantage, whatever that is worth these days, and it may give them the edge.

Prediction: 2-1 Leeds United
