The Championship is one of the most competitive leagues anywhere in the world, but the reward for those promoted could not be any bigger. It is no surprise that many clubs in the division do business in the loan market with Premier League players.
Here is a look at the Premier League stars excelling in the Championship this season on a loan deal.
Harry Souttar Proving a Towering Figure with The Blades
Australia international Harry Souttar made a season-long loan move from Leicester City to Sheffield United back in the summer, and that has proven to be excellent business. The Blades have been very strong defensively since he arrived.
Sheffield United are 4/6 in the Championship betting for promotion this season. Souttar has created an excellent partnership with Jack Robinson, with both players having a lot of experience in the league.
Currently, the Blades only have Leeds ahead of them in the Championship winner odds this season at 4/6. Those two clubs could be fighting it out for the title. Souttar, who cost Leicester £15 million when they signed him from Stoke City, is enjoying his football in Yorkshire. Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is getting the best out of the 26-year-old, and the Australian has revealed he would be open to staying longer than this season if the opportunity became available.
Joe Rothwell A Key Figure for High-Flyers Leeds United
For the second consecutive year, Bournemouth’s Joe Rothwell is out on loan in the Championship. He played 20 games for Southampton last season in their promotion-winning team. The central midfielder is now at Leeds United, where he is bidding for more success in the division.

Rothwell has become a regular in Daniel Farke’s team. In Leeds’ 2-0 victory over Derby County, he made his 11th consecutive starting appearance. He provided the assist for his side’s opening goal in that triumph, whipping in a corner to Joe Rodon.
Not many players in the history of the Championship have recorded back-to-back promotions in the league. Leeds have started their season well, and with Rothwell in such good form, Farke is going to find it difficult to drop the midfielder.
Burnley Have Landed a Gem in Jaidon Anthony

Winger Jaidon Anthony has played 93 times for Bournemouth, with 33 of those games coming in the Premier League. Burnley persuaded the left-side player to spend the season at Turf Moor, and they are reaping the rewards for that move.
Anthony was part of the Bournemouth team that finished runner-up in the Championship in the 2021/22 campaign. He scored eight league goals that season. The 25-year-old featured in the division last year for Leeds.
Burnley boss Scott Parker has used Anthony on both wings this season, a sign of how flexible he can be. The on-loan Bournemouth player scored a crucial winning goal in his side’s 1-0 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
Last season’s relegated Premier League club are bidding for an immediate return to the top-flight of English football. If Anthony stays fit and remains in the same level of form, they will have an excellent chance of finishing in the top two this season.
The 2024/25 Championship campaign concludes on the 3rd of May with the final round of matches in the league.
