Last Seasons Winning Predictions, and How It’s Looking so Far

The Premier League never fails to deliver in terms of entertainment. Every season, there are unexpected twists and turns, dramatic storylines, and, of course, stunning goals. With the 25/26 season now underway and teams starting to find their feet, it is worth taking a look at some of the predictions that were made last season and how these picks now look in the new season. Of course, it is far too early to predict exactly what will happen, but it is always interesting to speculate.

Last Season’s Predictions

Before a ball was kicked in the 2024/25 season, pretty much everyone had Man City to win the league. Coming off the back of their fourth consecutive Premier League title (and treble), City looked a shoo-in to finish at the top of the pile once again. Some had also predicted that Arsenal would finally leapfrog City, having finished second to them in the previous two seasons, but very few predicted what actually happened to unfold.

What Happened

In Arne Slot’s first season as Liverpool manager following the emotional departure of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool surprised both City and Arsenal by equalling Manchester United’s record of 20 English league titles and winning their first since 2019/2020. Arsenal were once again runners-up after another excellent season, while Manchester City had an uncharacteristically poor season but still managed to round out the top three.

The Current Season

The new Premier League season may only be three games in (at the time of writing), but there are already some fascinating narratives unfolding at both ends of the table (and on and off the pitch).

Liverpool has shown no signs of complacency, with three wins from three, including a narrow victory over close challengers Arsenal. The Gunners, meanwhile, won their other two games and sit in third with Chelsea in second, having posted two wins and a draw, including an impressive 1-5 away win over London rivals West Ham. Of course, it is early days, but it has been a worrying start to the season for City fans with just one win and two losses to their name against Brighton and their bogey team – Tottenham.

There have also been a few surprise stories to the season so far. Tottenham look like a different beast under new manager Thomas Frank and have made some impressive summer signings, while Everton have started life at their new stadium in electric fashion with two impressive wins. Newly promoted side Sunderland have also caught the eye of many with two fine wins. This shows the unpredictable nature of the EPL season, which is what makes it so captivating. It can often feel like a spin of an online slot machine – impossible to predict yet hugely thrilling. You can often take advantage of generous welcome promotions at online casinos and sports betting websites, including no-wager free spins promotions.

Last season surprised most as Liverpool surged ahead of Arsenal and Man City to win their 20th league title, and the new season looks like it could also have a few surprises up its sleeve, judging by the first few weeks.
