Wenger eyes Draxler as the final piece of the puzzle

Arsenal are in talks with German club Schalke over the proposed transfer of Julian Draxler.

Reports from Germany suggest that Arsenal have sent a group of representatives to negotiate a deal for German wonder kid Julian Draxler.

20 year old Draxler is an exciting attacking midfield player and one of Europe’s hottest young properties. Although having only just signed a new 4 year deal with a release clause of £37million pounds, Arsenal are hopeful of sealing a deal in the region of £30million pounds.

Earlier on in this January transfer window it appeared little chance of a deal going through, in fact Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies said

I am of the opinion he should also be with us next season,”

“It would be my personal advice. He can play his best football without any big pressure and at our club he would have a clear mind.

“He is very much in good hands playing for Schalke 04. My general advice for everyone would be to stop making Julian mad.”

However, after Tuesday night’s draw against Southampton Arsene Wenger spoke about the possibilities of new signings, saying “I hope we have something to tell you because we lost a few players now,”

This would be quite the signing for Arsenal if it goes through. Although the fee won’t be the largest of this transfer window I would say that this would be the biggest deal of the window. This is a player being linked with all the big clubs in Europe and if Arsenal get him then it would be a massive coup.
