Financial Restrictions on Champions League Squad for Man City

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are expecting squad restrictions ahead of next season’s Champions League for breaching UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules. It would mean that both clubs would have a limited salary bill on their A Squad for Europe’s most valued competition, as well as limiting the amount of players permitted in the A squad, which usually consists of 25 players.

These sanctions are a part of packages issued by UEFA, which can be contested by Man City should they choose to do so. The sanction is in place to help clubs comply with reducing their financial losses to below £37 million, with Manchester City’s at around £150 million from the previous two years.

It is understood that no other English club are in breach of FFP rules, but City’s sanctions will have serious effects on their progression in the Champions League next season.
